Why a Summer of Resistance?

Trump Has Invaded Our Beloved Los Angeles

On June 6, federal immigration agents brought violence and terror to our city. Wearing masks and armed like they were at war, they tackled children, slammed beloved labor leaders to the ground and tore families apart. They drove through our neighborhood streets where children play and families gather. They invaded our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and courthouses.

But our city refused to be divided. People from across the city united nonviolently and bravely to protect our loved ones and neighbors. Because we know that immigrants are our family, neighbors and co-workers and that we are a vital part of LA and California’s cultural and economic heartbeat. Our city was met with further violence. As usual, compensating for his weakness, Trump met Angelenos with an unnecessary, outsized show of force — trying to provoke violence so he could justify repression, including mobilizing 2,000 National Guard and the Marines. What’s happening in Los Angeles is unprecedented, outrageous and dangerous abuse of federal power. The federal government is invading an iconic American city and violently turning on its own citizens.

This is a moment for all Americans and Angelenos to unite to STOP Trump’s invasion and abuse of power before he spreads his action to other cities. This is not just an immigration story. It’s a story about who we are — and how we respond when our neighbors are under attack and when a clown of a President threatens our democracy.

Our Demands are Clear

STOP the ICE raids.

End the terror and mass arrests. Real safety comes from strong families, good jobs, and stable housing — not from targeting immigrants trying to build a better life.

END the militarization of Los Angeles.

We want our city back. Remove ICE, DHS, and all militarized federal agents from our neighborhoods now.

BREAK ties between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.

No more collaboration with ICE. LA must protect our rights to legal counsel, due process, and peaceful protest — not enable Trump-style crackdowns.

FREE all detainees.

We want our neighbors free and reunited with their loved ones — not locked away in cages for seeking safety or opportunity.
